What is Baptism?

When someone receives Christ, their next step is to make that commitment public through water baptism. Baptism doesn't make you a believer; it shows you already believe. Baptism does not "save" you, your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring - it's the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart. Saint Augustine described baptism as “an outward display of inward transformation.”  It’s a picture.  As you go under the water you are “being buried” in the likeness of Christ, and you come out, you are raising into new life.
